For those who already enjoyed the fantastic SteamWorld Heist, here's some more content to keep you strategizing. However, is this new mysterious robot chum worth inviting into your ship?
A robot with amnesia
One of the main reasons to pick this pack up is to play as the forgetful Fen. His design is very cool as he looks like a wandering rogue robot which matches his story well. After downloading The Outsider DLC, you find Fen in a trash container. However, you can't recruit him yet because you first have to complete a brief mission in order to retrieve an item that provides him with the ability to move. Once he's in your party, you'll be quite happy with his special ability (Lightning Coil) that allows him to shoot through multiple enemies and obstacles. It's not the most unique skill but it's a heck of a lot of fun watching a few foes fall apart with one shot.

My only problem with Fen is that he really doesn't stand out from the cast of characters except for his unique design. I would've loved to have a new character that can do something truly awesome like walk on ceilings, jump high without the need to equip an accessory, or warp around the battlefield but all you get is just a new face to add to your troop.
An extended campaign
In addition to Fen, there are six new missions to complete. They're mostly similar to ones in the main story but the final one features an awesome boss fight against a tricky robot named Jester. Working through these missions is enjoyable but if you've already finished the campaign then they can be quite boring due to the lack of challenge. Sure, you can adjust the difficulty but how would you know how much to adjust it by when these missions take place all over the map? Also, you can easily beat the entire pack in one sitting which is kind of disappointing. That being said, more SteamWorld Heist is definitely a good thing no matter how easy and short this DLC is.
A few odds and ends
Finally, you'll discover a bunch of new weapons and equipment as you progress through the missions. Many of these items are interesting such as gear that decreases your maximum health but increases your attack power. The weapons are satisfying to experiment with, too, but they don't stray far from what's offered in the core experience. Oh, and there are more nifty hats to try on.

If you already own SteamWorld Heist and simply want more content then purchasing The Outsider DLC is a no-brainer. Just make sure you don't expect anything out of the ordinary to be included.
- + Fen is an interesting and capable new character with a pretty cool ability
- + More missions to work through, extras to uncover, and an awesome boss to fight
- - Besides his cool design, Fen doesn't really stand out from the pack
- - You can finish everything in one sitting
- - Too easy if you've played the main game
